In the run-up to Hugh Jackman’s 2023 split from wife Deborra-Lee Furness, the couple were tight with Sutton Foster and her then-husband, Ted Griffin.
Now, an insider tells Star, Sutton, who was first linked to Hugh in late 2024 — months after her own split — has been reaching out to apologize to her former pal.
“Sutton and Debs were friends, they used to go on double dates and even hung out one-on-one” says the insider. “That’s why Sutton feels a tremendous sense of guilt. As she tells it, she didn’t intend to fall in love with Hugh. It just happened.”
So far, the mom of one, 50, has gotten a frosty reception from Deborra-Lee, 69, who wed Hugh, 56, in 1996 and shares two adult children with him.
“Debs has made it very plain that she’s not interested in meeting and is disgusted by the relationship,” adds the insider. “Sutton’s going to persevere because she believes it’s important they have closure.”
