‘I think we both have knots on our head.’ Lexie Hull on her collision with Gabby Williams
Lexie Hull knocked heads with Seattle’s Gabby Williams and left the game for a bit before returning and helping Fever to a 95-75 win over the Storm.
UPDATE: Indiana Fever wing Lexie Hull checks back into the game after banging heads in the first quarter.
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever caught another bout of bad luck on the injury front on Tuesday night.
Fever guard Lexie Hull left the game in the first quarter after knocking her head against Seattle’s Gabby Williams while trying to steal the ball. Both stayed down for a while clutching their heads.
Officials eventually called an injury timeout, and trainers went over to help both Hull and Williams.
Hull first got onto all fours while on the court, then slowly stood up with a towel on her head. She immediately went back to the locker room with Fever trainer Todd Champlin.
Williams also checked out of the game, sitting at the end of Seattle’s bench as trainers checked on her. Williams checked back into the game later in the quarter.
A significant injury to Hull would be brutal for the Fever, who already have five players out with injury: Sophie Cunningham (right MCL), Sydney Colson (left ACL), and Aari McDonald (right foot) are out for the season, while Caitlin Clark (right groin) has been out since July 15 and Chloe Bibby (left knee) has been out since Aug. 22.
Indiana has three players currently signed on hardship waivers because of those injuries.
