PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — The MBTA has announced service changes for the Providence/Stoughton line that will take affect this fall.
The changes will be made to accommodate for ongoing works following a fire at a signal bungalow by a downed Amtrak wire on August 1.
Starting on Tuesday, certain following MBTA trains going from Providence to South Station (departure times at 5:16am, 6:00 am, 7:10am, 8:08am, and 9:08am) will no longer stop at Forest Hills, but will continue to stop at Ruggles and Back Bay.
Also, two trains going from South Station to Providence (departure times 6:57am and 7:30am) will add a stop at Readville for passengers who want to transfer onto the Franklin/Foxboro line.
MBTA officials also said some trains on the Franklin/Foxboro and Fairmount will be affected by this emergency work.
Meanwhile, shuttle service will continue between Foxboro and Walpole as work continues on a permanent platform at Foxboro Station.
