Ranking all 17 Eagles games in 2025, from worst to best, and Micah Parsons trade impact

PHILADELPHIA − You would be hard-pressed to find a more intriguing schedule in the NFL than the slate the Eagles have for this coming season.

Even the so-called easy games have plenty of intrigue, such as the season opener on Sept. 4 against the Micah Parsons-less Cowboys after he was unceremoniously traded to the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 28.

And speaking of the Packers, the Eagles will face them, too, at Lambeau Field. And Parsons’ presence brings a new level of intrigue to a game in which there already is no love lost between the two teams.

All of which dovetails with an Eagles team trying to repeat, er, continue its sustained success after winning the Super Bowl last February.

Here, then, is Delaware Online/The News Journal’s rankings of each of the Eagles’ 17 games, from worst to best, with plenty of contenders for the No. 1 spot:

17. Eagles vs. Raiders, Week 15

The only intrigue is Chip Kelly’s first game back at Lincoln Financial Field since he was unceremoniously fired with one game remaining in the 2015 season. Kelly is the Raiders’ offensive coordinator. Along with geriatric coach Pete Carroll and QB Geno Smith, it should be a laugher.

16. Eagles vs. Giants, Week 8

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (26) reacts after a long run during the second half against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Oct 20, 2024, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

This is the second meeting in a span of 17 days between the two teams, and this one is at the Linc. That means Saquon Barkley would have already had another game at MetLife Stadium to show Giants fans what they’re missing. The only intrigue is whether Jaxson Dart takes over at QB for the G-men.

15. Eagles vs. Bears, Week 13

For those still recovering from a little too much wine the night before, or turkey leftovers at lunch, or if you’re just getting back from an all-night campout outside your favorite department store, this game is for you. That is, if you’re ready for a nice, long nap. It could be a long day for Caleb Williams and the Bears’ offense under new coach Ben Johnson.

14. Eagles at Cowboys, Week 12

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (11) rushes the passer in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Nov. 10, 2024.

By this point, the Micah Parsons trade will have long worn off, leaving the Cowboys as just a bad team going nowhere. Still, it’ll be fun, in a perverse way, for Eagles fans − and Cowboys haters − to watch the demolition in Dallas.

13. Eagles vs. Broncos, Week 5

The Broncos are an up-and-coming team behind QB Bo Nix. But they’re not quite there yet when it comes to facing a Super Bowl-caliber team on the road.

12. Eagles vs. Commanders, Week 18

This is the season finale, and the Eagles should have clinched everything by this point, meaning that it will resemble a preseason game with backups playing while starters rest. For the Commanders, it’s likely the end of a big step-back season.

11. Eagles at Giants, Week 6

Thursday night games are always tricky, and perhaps the Eagles lighten Saquon Barkley’s load after playing just four days earlier. Then again, it’s another game at MetLife Stadium, Barkley’s former stomping grounds, so he’ll be ready to do some more stomping.

10. Eagles vs. Rams, Week 3

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (26) runs for on a 78-yard touchdown run against the Los Angeles Rams during the fourth quarter in a 2025 NFC divisional round game at Lincoln Financial Field on Jan 19, 2025, in Philadelphia.

It goes to show just how difficult the Eagles’ schedule is because this is an NFC Divisional Round rematch that the Rams nearly won in the snow last January. Of course, there won’t be any snow in late September. And if Matthew Stafford’s back isn’t 100%, the Rams won’t have much of a chance.

9. Eagles at Commanders, Week 16

Washington has the oldest team in the NFL. Since this first meeting is so late in the season, there’s a good chance many of those players could be out with injuries. So this NFC Championship game rematch shouldn’t be much of one. And it might serve as the Commanders’ last gasp for a wildcard spot.

8. Eagles vs. Cowboys, Week 1

This will be our first look at the Cowboys without Micah Parsons, and it won’t be pretty for the Cowboys. If this was played under any other circumstance other than it kicks off the NFL season, this game would have no intrigue whatsoever. But like gawking at the scene of an accident, you stay and watch − at least the first half.

7. Eagles at Buccaneers, Week 4

Delaware native Chris Godwin (14) of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers carries the ball against the Philadelphia Eagles during the second quarter of the game at Raymond James Stadium on Sept. 29, 2024, in Tampa, Florida.

We saw this movie last year − a late September afternoon game in blistering hot Tampa, where the Eagles wilted in the heat and humidity, and got pummeled by the Bucs. Why would it be any different this time around, especially if Delaware native Chris Godwin is back? As ex-Sixers coach Doc Rivers once said, this looks like “a schedule loss.”

6. Eagles at Vikings, Week 6

It’s easy to forget that the Vikings tied with the Eagles for the second-best record in the NFC last season at 14-3. The Vikings still have Justin Jefferson, and they’re turning the offense over to J.J. McCarthy. And don’t forget that Carson Wentz is McCarthy’s backup after the Eagles traded for Sam Howell.

5. Eagles at Chargers, Week 14

Don’t look now, but this game could be a Super Bowl preview. For Jalen Hurts, it will be a great opportunity to stop the comparisons with Justin Herbert, who was the No. 6 pick in the 2020 draft, or 47 spots before Hurts. Herbert has thrown for a lot of yards, but has zero playoff victories. Hurts has already led the Eagles to two Super Bowls, winning one in which was named the MVP.

4. Eagles at Chiefs, Week 2

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) scrambles away from Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham (55) in the third quarter in Super Bowl LIX at Ceasars Superdome on Feb. 9, 2025, in New Orleans.

I like a Super Bowl rematch as much as anybody. But I find it hard to believe the Chiefs are still Super Bowl caliber after the way the Eagles dismantled them, and that the Chiefs won’t have suspended wide receiver Rashee Rice. But they do have Patrick Mahomes, so there’s always a chance. There also might be a few TV shots of the future Mrs. Kelce.

3. Eagles vs. Lions, Week 10

Up until Aug. 28, this was going to be the NFC Championship preview, held in Philly. But the Packers changed that narrative by trading for a certain Cowboys star. It’s still a top matchup. And perhaps Jalen Hurts might want to show Jared Goff a thing or two after Goff was ranked ahead of Hurts in the NFL Network’s preseason ranking (No. 19 for Hurts, 15 for Goff).

2. Eagles at Bills, Week 17

This matchup has everything you could ask for: Two of the best teams playing a late December game that could be a Super Bowl preview. Add in the possibility of snow in Buffalo, with two top QBs in Hurts and Josh Allen, and well, this could be a doozy. And up until Aug. 28, it would have been the matchup of the season.

1. Eagles at Packers, Week 11

Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles runs with the ball in the second quarter against the Green Bay Packers during the NFC wild-card playoff at Lincoln Financial Field on Jan. 12, 2025, in Philadelphia.

This instead is the matchup of the season because the Packers now have Micah Parsons. He takes an already good Packers defense to an elite level. And the Packers already have a good enough offense, led by QB Jordan Love, to match. Plus, there’s the intrigue. The Eagles beat the Packers three times last season − once in Brazil, once in the playoffs, and once in not banning the Tush Push.
