After a position battle in training camp and one game of the season, former Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback Brendan Sullivan will get his chance at reps with Tulane, a College Football Playoff contender.
Sullivan, who departed Iowa following the 2024 season, joined Tulane and spent training camp competing against former BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff. The two were tight in a battle throughout camp, but Retzlaff won the starting job in Week 1.
Moving forward to this week, it has been reported that Tulane is going to play both quarterbacks, Sullivan and Retzlaff, this weekend in their matchup against South Alabama.
Last week, Retzlaff went 18-31 for 152 yards and one touchdown, paired with a great showing on the ground where he ran for 113 yards and a score in the Green Wave‘s 23-3 win over Northwestern.
In his collegiate career, which began at Northwestern for two years, Sullivan has amassed 1,778 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns, while completing 69.4% of his passes. He has been mobile as well, rushing for 407 yards and seven scores on the ground.
