Fans couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw how young Karate Kid icon Ralph Macchio looked in a recent TV appearance
Viewers of UK talk show This Morning were stunned when they discovered the actual age of Karate Kid legend, Ralph Macchio.
The actor graced the program alongside his fellow cast member Ben Wang to talk about their latest movie, Karate Kid: Legends, which is part of the beloved series.
In this new installment, Jackie Chan joins the lineup, with the film chronicling the journey of kung fu whiz Li Fong (played by Ben Wang) as he contends with leaving behind his history and adjusting to a fresh start in New York.
Ralph commented on his role in Karate Kid: Legends, sharing: “Now to enter a new chapter, which is fresh and urban in its style – it’s different but same, is a phrase I always use.”
Yet as he and his co-star conversed about the movie with show hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, fans were mesmerised by Ralph’s seemingly eternal youth, reports Surrey Live.
At 63, Ralph impressed audiences, who swiftly expressed their amazement at his youthful look on social media platform X.
A fan exclaimed: “Wasn’t he the original Karate Kid? That’s why he’s on #thismorning. And at 63 he looks great.” Someone else marvelled: “He doesn’t look like a man in his 60s.”
Among the awestruck comments, another viewer posted: “How can Ralph Macchio be in his 60s when he looks good.”
Taking on the mantle of Daniel LaRusso once again, Ralph has stated that his participation in the new film serves to pay tribute to the legacy while propelling the narrative forward.
Speaking to Morung Express, he shared: “I’ve been careful over the years with protecting this franchise, protecting this character.
“The evolution of these characters, the themes in the original movie, they still stand the test of time and win over each generation.”
Reflecting on his experience working with Jackie Chan, he remarked: “Working alongside Chan was a learning experience in itself. I have so much respect for him as an artist and entertainer. He’s a legend in the field, whether it be motion pictures and martial arts or even comedy.
“He cares very much, and he’s very involved in every take, certainly in the martial arts’ takes. He’s like, ‘No, no, this is how it’s done!’ I kind of just say, ‘Okay!'”
The actor, Ralph, was 22 years old when The Karate Kid was filmed.
