Strong winds in recent days have brought down trees and power lines in several areas, with some parks and trails impacted.
Minnesota State Parks and Trails posted on Facebook Wednesday morning that cleanup efforts are actively underway in Tettegouche State Park, saying there’s significant damage to Tettegouche and Hayes Lakes.
“If you are heading north this weekend, check the park website for alerts and stop at the park office for updates,” shared Minnesota State Parks and Trails. “Many trails, including Shovel Point at Tettegouche and the campground at Hayes Lake are undergoing significant cleanup efforts, which include closures. Please give our crews time and space to complete work as safely and quickly as they can.”
Trees have been reported down across several Twin Ports hiking and biking trails in recent days, as well.

In a post on Facebook, the Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores posted that they are working closely with Duluth Parks & Rec to clear the trails.
“If you come across any downed trails, please send a message to trails@coggs.com with trail name and location and we’ll add it to our list!”
