Starting in the afternoon on Saturday, May 24, and lasting into the overnight hours, severe storms are possible and could bring large hail, damaging winds and some tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Norman.

Here’s what you need to know.

When will it storm in Oklahoma on Saturday?

Storms could begin as early as 2 p.m. Saturday, and last until 7 a.m. Sunday, May 25, at the latest. The most likely timing, according to the weather service, is 4 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

Possibilities include hail larger than a golf ball and winds up to 70 miles per hour.

There is a low potential for tornadoes across parts of north central, central and southwestern Oklahoma. The most likely timing for tornadoes is between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.
