U.S. Open live leaderboard: Sam Burns is the only one to conquer Oakmont

Oakmont has bitten back.

Just three players remain under par as Round 2 edges to a close. One of those players — Sam Burns — put together a stellar round… while everyone else has been grounded into paste.

Burns, after a brilliant round of 5-under 65, is at -3. He is the clubhouse leader.

The scoring has gotten even more difficult for the afternoon wave. First-round leader J.J. Spaun is hung, though he dropped from the lead.

Spaun fired a bogey-free 66 to kick off the U.S. Open, which gave him a one-shot lead over the field after Round 1. He’s playing in his first U.S. Open, and he carded what was just the second bogey-free round at a U.S. Open at Oakmont on Thursday.

Friday, he came in at 2-over 72, putting him one shot back of Burns.

Some big names, including defending champ Bryson DeChambeau, will miss the cut. You can track the cut line here.
