Tornado watch issued for Trigg, Christian, Todd, Logan counties, strong storms expected

UPDATED (June 18, 3:50 p.m.) A tornado watch has been issued for Trigg, Christian, Todd, and Logan counties until 8 p.m.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) – A Code Red Weather Alert continues for a small risk of strong storms in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

Storms could start firing up as early as 6 p.m. in our northwestern counties. The severe weather risk has increased for parts of Southern Kentucky. Now, a small portion of Trigg, Christian and Todd counties are in an enhanced risk, Level 3/5, for severe weather.

The biggest threat for this severe weather alert is wind. Hail, flooding and a tornado are also possible, but Meteorologist Greg Bobos says the tornado threat is very low.

As the storms push more into Middle Tennessee, the strength of the line should begin to weaken. With that in mind, the best overall threat for severe weather will stay northwest.

This is a nighttime event, so please remember to have ways to get alerts while you are sleeping. Download the FOX 17 Code Red Weather App and be sure to have location notifications activated.
