Any time you can match a Clayton Kershaw pitching feat, it’s an incredible accomplishment.
That’s the company Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo finds himself in.
In all 16 of his starts this season, Woo had gone at least 6.0 innings and issued two or fewer walks.

That’s the longest streak to begin a season by a pitcher 30 or younger, tied with 2016 Clayton Kershaw, in MLB history, per OptaStats.
The 6-foot-2 25-year old Woo was a sixth-round pick in 2021 out of Cal Poly and has well outgrown his expectations.
This is Wood’s third big league season, and he is 7-4 with a 2.93 ERA. He has 96 strikeouts and only 17 walks allowed in 101 innings pitched.

That’s after he had a 2.89 ERA as a full-time starter last year.
Woo is clearly the real deal, and he has the tied record with Kershaw to prove it.

All it’ll take is one more start of six innings with limited walks for Woo to hold this cool record all to himself, ahead of even Kershaw, who has been around so long as a legend that he just became the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach 3,000 strikeouts.
