Phillies announce lineup vs Seattle Mariners for Monday’s game


PHILADELPHIA − Ranger Suarez hopes to give the Phillies‘ pitching situation a positive jolt when he steps onto the mound to face Seattle at Citizens Bank Park on Aug. 18.

First pitch is a 6:45 p.m. The game airs on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The news of Zach Wheeler being sidelined by a blood clot and Aaron Nola’s shaky return from the injured list in a loss at Washington on Aug. 17 certainly causes concern.

Likewise, Suarez, who is 8-6 with a 3.18 ERA in 18 starts this year, hopes to return to his early-season form. He has a 6.59 ERA and has given up 39 hits and 21 runs in his last five starts.

The Phillies open a 6-game homestand with three versus Seattle. Washington then visits this weekend.

The first-place Phillies (71-53) have a 6-game lead over the New York Mets in the National League East.

Seattle (68-57) is also in playoff contention as the second-place Mariners trail Houston by 1 1/2 games in the American League West.
