Colton Underwood’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ dream

Colton Underwood is ready to tango with his next reality show!

The former athlete and star of The Bachelor spoke with US Weekly Friday about his reality TV career — and he hopes that his next steps will involve fancy footwork. When asked what reality show he’d be “terrified” to go on, Colton pointed to Dancing With the Stars, ABC’s long-running dance competition.

“I would be so terrified. I would want to do it because I love pushing myself outside of my comfort zone,” he said. “But I have tight hips. My mobility is not the best, but what I lack in my flexibility, I make up for in strength.”

He also has a brilliant idea for whom he wants to partner with. “I want to dance with [DWTS pro] Mark [Ballas] because I know him from Traitors,” he said.

Underwood is starring on the upcoming fourth season of The Traitors, which he says is “by far, one of the most exciting shows” he’s ever been a part of. He stars alongside Ballas, Johnny Weir, Kristen Kish, Monét X Change, Caroline Stanbury, Donna Kelce, and Lisa Rinna, among others.

If he and Ballas foxtrotted on DWTS, they wouldn’t be the first same-sex pairing. In 2021, JoJo Siwa competed on the show with dance partner Jenna Johnson, making the first same-sex couple on the American version of the show. The following year, drag queen Shangela was cast opposite dancer Gleb Savchenko. Several other same sex couples have danced on international versions of the show.

To US Weekly, Underwood — who was famously billed as the first “virgin Bachelor” in 2019 prior to coming out — also discussed his current gig currently cohosting the all-virgin dating show Are You My First? with Kaitlyn Bristowe. He says the “goal of the show was never to get [contestants] laid.”

“The goal is to connect with somebody, to experience these things. And people experienced their firsts on Are You My First? in different ways,” he says. “On a deeper level, I think some of the cast experienced the first self-love and self-acceptance, like, having that deeper understanding of their virginity was the goal of this. And I would like to think after a lot of them have lost their virginity, they might have had those tools to do that from the experience.”
