Coroner IDs victim of fatal pedestrian crash in Snow Shoe Township

Officials with the Centre County coroner’s office have identified the victim of Monday morning’s fatal pedestrian incident in Snow Shoe Township.

According to the deputy coroner, 73-year-old Thomas Edward Hipple, a Snow Shoe local, was reportedly killed after he was struck by a vehicle along the 700 block of East Sycamore Road.

Emergency officials say state police are investigating the deadly crash and no further details are being provided at this time.

Investigators note that an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Centre County officials say the coroner was called Monday morning after a person was struck by a vehicle in Snow Shoe Township.

According to the Snow Shoe Fire Company, crews were called to the area of 720 East Sycamore Road just after 9 a.m.

Life Flight was initially requested but told to stand down just before 10 a.m. at which point the coroner was requested, according to emergency officials.

The road was shut down as crews responded but has since reopened.
