Donald Trump has said that Taylor Swift is no longer “hot”.
“Has anyone noticed that, since I said “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” she’s no longer “HOT?”” the U.S. president wrote on his Truth Social platform on Friday morning.
The post came amid others around the president’s trip to the Middle East and his disappointment with the U.S. Supreme Court over its hearing on birthright citizenship Thursday.
Newsweek reached out to representatives for Swift Friday morning for comment.
Why It Matters
Trump and Swift have been critical of each other publicly since 2018, with the singer openly endorsing Democratic Party candidates since, including former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024.
What To Know
Trump’s post about Swift came amid celebratory posts related to his trip to the Middle East, touting the agreements made with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
It was not immediately clear why the president shared his thoughts on the singer, but the two have clashed multiple times over the past seven years.

In 2018, after not making any real political statements in the past, Swift endorsed Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the 2018 U.S. midterm elections in her home state of Tennessee.
Then, Trump said he liked Swift’s music less and that she did not know anything about Senator Marsha Blackburn, whom Bredesen was running against.
During the 2024 presidential election campaign, as other stars made their endorsements, there was growing pressure for Swift to make her views clear.
Trump then posted on Truth Social, claiming he had done more than former President Joe Biden for the music industry during his first term and that there was “no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden”.
Later that year, Trump shared an AI-generated image of Swift endorsing his campaign, later saying someone else had generated the images.
Swift addressed the AI posts when she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in 2024. She said that it “Conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.” She also signed the post, “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to the comments made by now-Vice President JD Vance.
After her endorsement of Harris, Trump said: “I was not a Taylor Swift fan … But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
Swift’s Eras Tour set a new record as the music industry’s first $2 billion tour over the past few years, while the singer herself is thought to be worth around $1.6 billion.
After criticizing the pop star Friday, the president shared a post in all-caps claiming that the Supreme Court was being “played by the radical left losers who have no support,” after justices appeared skeptical of his plans to change birthright citizenship at a hearing Thursday.
What People Are Saying
Mike Nellis, Democratic strategist and former Harris adviser, posted on X: “Walmart and other retailers are hiking up prices because of the tariffs, and he’s panicked about it—so we’re going to see new levels of BS distractions, like him attacking Taylor Swift out of nowhere. It works well enough when you’re a candidate, but not when you’re in charge.”
Nick Sortor, MAGA commentator and internet personality, posted on X: “LMAO! President Trump just TORCHED Taylor Swift. This is classic Trump.”
What’s Next
President Trump is continuing his tour of the Middle East, and is due back in the U.S. late Friday.
