Oliver Gibson, who played nine NFL seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers, has died. He was 53 years old.

Gibson played defensive tackle, and was a fourth-round pick of the Steelers in the 1995 NFL draft. After four seasons as a backup for Pittsburgh, he signed with the Bengals and started 57 games for Cincinnati from 1999 to 2002.

He also played in 16 seasons for the Bengals in 2003, his final NFL season and fifth for Cincinnati.

Gibson had 12 sacks and one interception over his five seasons for the Bengals. He added 10 passes defended, 37 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and 201 tackles for Cincinnati, according to Pro Football Reference.

In 2014, Gibson became the head football coach at his alma mater, Romeoville High School. He also served as assistant basketball coach.
