Friday is a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY
The threat for strong/severe storms has passed and it will quickly turn into a quiet night with clearing skies. Several tornadoes were reported south and west of the Fox Valley, but thankfully, most storms were non-severe as they arrived in the Fox Cities.
On the backside of the stormy weathermaker, strong southwest winds will gust up to 50 mph Friday… during the midday and afternoon hours. Winds this strong can cause minor property damage. Weakened tree branches may snap and can cause isolated power outages. Make sure loose items in your yard are secured, including curbside garbage cans. The fiercest of the winds will end by sunset, but breezy weather will continue into the weekend.
Those strong winds will propel us into a cool down for the weekend. Saturday’s highs will stay in the 60s. Much of next week will be cooler than normal, with highs in the 50s. While there might be some showers towards the middle of next week, it doesn’t look as potentially rowdy as the end of this week’s weather… it’s looking like the highest rain chances will miss us to the south.
