Clay Holmes allowed five earned runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four over 3 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s win against the Braves.
Fantasy Impact:
Holmes was bailed out by a 13-run explosion from the Mets’ offense Tuesday night. After a solid first few months in the Mets’ rotation, the closer-turned-starter has been very up and down since the beginning of July. Over his last eight starts, Holmes has recorded just one win while laboring to a 5.45 ERA and 1.61 WHIP. His 26-17 K/BB ratio across 38 innings does not inspire confidence either. Holmes is in line to return to the mound Sunday against the Mariners.
