The Syracuse Orange football team hosts Colgate Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. The Orange are 1-1 heading into a matchup against their only FCS opponent of the 2025 season.

The Orange took down UConn 27-20 in overtime Saturday, marking its first win of the season. It didn’t come easy though, Syracuse was down 17-6 with less than 10 minutes left in regulation.
The Orange’s final three offensive drives of the game resulted in touchdowns after a dry spell of points through the first three quarters. Quarterback Steve Angeli solidified his role as the starter, throwing for 417 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the win. Tight end Dan Villari was his leading receiver, snagging seven catches for 104 yards. Though it was senior Justus Ross-Simmons who caught both of Angeli’s touchdown passes.
Before the overtime win, things got to the point where the Syracuse players kicked the coaches out of the locker room at halftime for a players-only meeting. The Orange’s effort wasn’t nearly enough, and the players chat proved productive.
Angeli has been sacked eight times through two games, which is enough for Syracuse coach Fran Brown to stick up for the Notre Dame transfer. Brown said Angeli is getting “killed out there” following the eight sacks and two fumbles lost.
Brown made the Orange run sprints after the win, which led to former players and coaches criticizing the Syracuse coach.
Colgate is 0-2 this season, losing games to Villanova and Monmouth. Syracuse begins its ACC slate on the road against Clemson the week after hosting the Raiders.
