India’s Malayali star H S Prannoy bowed out in the second round of China Open Super 1000 badminton tournament in Changzhou on Thursday.
Prannoy lost 21-18, 15-21, 8-21 to sixth seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in 65 minutes.
But there was good news for India in the men’s doubles section as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced.
India’s top doubles pair defeated Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana 21-19, 21-19 to reach the quarterfinals.
“It was quite a topsy-turvy match just back and forth the whole time,” Shetty said after the win.
