Kevin Durant Trade Reportedly Expected to Draw Serious Interest from 4-6 NBA Teams

The Phoenix Suns are known to be shopping star forward Kevin Durant this summer, and it’s expected that there will be a long line of teams vying for his services.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Durant “is expected to have a robust market of approximately four to six seriously interested teams this offseason, sources said.”

Charania added on NBA Today that the Suns “will work with Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman” to find a new home for the 15-time All-Star.

The Houston Rockets have been linked to Durant dating back to this season’s trade deadline, and The Athletic’s Kelly Iko reported that the Suns have continued to try to send him to Texas, as sources said, “Since the conclusion of the season, Houston has fielded several calls from Phoenix, who have since gradually lowered their asking price for Durant.”

Lowering their trade demands could allow the Suns to shop Durant to other teams, though the Rockets still have the advantage of holding a significant amount of Phoenix’s draft capital, including the No. 10 pick in this month’s NBA draft.

Durant was limited to 62 games during a tumultuous 2024-25 season for the Suns, though he continued his stellar play with averages of 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 43.0 percent from three-point range. His individual brilliance wasn’t enough to save the year for Phoenix, which finished with a 36-46 record and failed to make the playoffs.

Durant is still capable of being one of the lead options on a team looking to contend for a championship, so it will be exciting to see which teams pursue him this summer.
