Lady Gaga Announces New Song And Surprises Fans At ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Gala

Wednesday Addams finds social interaction distasteful, but even she might have tolerated tonight’s Graveyard Gala. Netflix and Spotify gave Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 a fittingly spooky celebration, inviting 300 fans, influencers, and press — including top Gaga and Wednesday listeners on Spotify — to Guastavino’s in New York City for a Graveyard Gala. Wednesday Addams herself, Jenna Ortega, was in attendance, alongside fellow cast members Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), and Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay).

The evening began with guests stepping into a fully immersive Tim Burton–inspired world. The party was shrouded in fog, with raven props perched on headstones etched with Wednesday Easter eggs scattered throughout the haunted gala. Attendees enjoyed Wednesday-themed snacks and cocktails under flickering lanterns as they wandered through moss-covered trees and spider-webbed iron fences. Poets wrote custom, epitaph-worthy haiku for attendees on typewriters, while aura readers revealed which Wednesday character matched each guest’s energy.

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at the event to announce the new song that will be featured in Wednesday Season 2. Guests were invited to step inside bespoke coffins for an exclusive first listen to a snippet of the electrifying new single.

It was previously revealed at Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event that Gaga will also make an appearance in Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 as the mysterious and enigmatic Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday Addams.

For Ortega, who’s also a producer on the show, Gaga’s transformation into Rotwood was so seamless, it felt as if she’d always been meant to walk the halls of Nevermore. “If you’re into Wednesday, if you’re into Lady Gaga, you should be very excited to see her in Part 2 — it really works. She’s unbelievable. She’s one of the few, rare instances of someone who is so clearly doing what they’re meant to be doing. Just being able to watch her and take her in is a surreal experience.”

Director and executive producer Tim Burton felt the same enthusiasm, praising Gaga’s artistry. “I’ve been a fan of her work for a long time. She makes great music, and she’s a great actress, so for me it was very easy,” he tells Tudum. “She’s a real artist, and I’m grateful for what she contributed to the show.”

The Grammy, Oscar, and Emmy-winning pop icon herself explains to Tudum, “I’m thrilled to release this song alongside Wednesday. I’m a huge fan of the show and had so much fun appearing in it to support ‘The Dead Dance.’”

Gaga’s involvement in Wednesday Season 2 actually began back in Season 1 following the viral success of “Bloody Mary” from the “Goo Goo Muck” dance.

“Lady Gaga became a big fan of Season 1 when her song ‘Bloody Mary’ became the de facto track for Wednesday’s viral dance on TikTok,” co-creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar tell Tudum. “This year, we wanted her to join the show, and we’re thrilled she agreed.

For the many fans at home who won’t get to hear the song until it is released, Gaga teases that “the inspiration for ‘The Dead Dance’ was a breakup, and it was all about the way that we sometimes feel when it’s over; how a relationship ending can kill our ability to feel hopeful about love. It’s got this really cool, funky beat underneath it. And that is when the song becomes not just about the relationship; it becomes about having fun with your friends when you’ve been through something tough and amazing. I can’t wait for people to listen to it.”

To keep the dead dancing, DJ Whitney Marston Pierce closed out the night with a Spotify-curated playlist inspired by Wednesday. For a party in a graveyard, it was a shockingly lively event.
