Sewell has been everything the Lions hoped for when they drafted him No. 7 overall in 2021. He has only missed one game over the past four seasons and has started all 51 regular-season games since the start of 2022.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes made Sewell their first draft pick after they were hired in January 2021. He has become emblematic of everything they wanted this franchise to become.
Sewell has made the All-Pro first team in each of the past two seasons. He was one of 11 offensive lineman to allow one or fewer sacks with at least 1,000 pass-blocking snaps during the 2024 season.
NFL coaches, scouts and executives voted Sewell as the second-best offensive tackle in the league, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Lions have boasted one of the top offensive lines in the NFL for the past three seasons thanks in large part to the stability they have at right tackle with Sewell.
It’s been an eventful offseason for Hendrickson, though he finally got a resolution to his contract situation by getting a $14 million raise from the Bengals that bumps his 2025 salary up to $30 million.
There are few individual players who are more important to their team’s defense than Hendrickson is to Cincinnati. His 17.5 sacks in 2024 led the NFL and accounted for nearly half of the Bengals’ total output (36).
Cincinnati’s pass-rush splits last season with and without Hendrickson were also jarring.
Even with Hendrickson having a season in which he made the All-Pro first team, the Bengals still ranked 25th in points and yards allowed. Their offense is the driving force for this team, but Hendrickson’s presence on defense is vital if they are going to make a push for the playoffs in 2025.
A third-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2017, Hendrickson steadily progressed to become one of the most dominant edge-rushers in the NFL. He had his first double-digit sack season in 2020 and parlayed that into a four-year, $60 million deal with the Bengals as a free agent in March 2021.
Since joining the Bengals, Hendrickson’s 57.5 sacks trails only Myles Garrett (60) and T.J. Watt (58.5) among all defensive players.
