The victim who was killed in the tornado that took place Friday morning in Washington County, Kentucky, has been identified.Kentucky State Police say that Ronnie Hill, 48, of Springfield, Kentucky, was the lone fatality of the tornado.14 other injuries were also reported from the tornado across Washington County.Washington County is located southwest of Lexington and is about a two-hour drive from Cincinnati.The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado was at least an EF-2, with wind speeds of at least 125 mph. It tore a path of destruction across a stretch of land equaling five miles, before finally coming to an end in Mercer County.As recovery efforts continue, police say that Long Run Road in Washington County remains closed to outsiders to serve as a safe passageway for emergency personnel and local residents to continue to utilize without disruption. Long Run Road, a rural road outside of Springfield, was among the hardest hit areas in the county by the tornado.Officials said that there were no tornado sirens nearby in the areas within the storm’s path in Washington County.Kentucky State Police also say that officers will have an increased presence in the region during the duration of the recovery efforts.See aerial video of the storm damage from Washington County in the video player below.
