New Vesemir Actor in The Witcher Season 4 Revealed

Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill in the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher isn’t the only major recasting of this season. Last year we revealed that Vesemir would be returning, but it wouldn’t be Kim Bodnia. Now we can finally reveal who is the new Vesemir.

We’ve learned that Peter Mullan has been cast as Vesemir in The Witcher Season 4, replacing Kim Bodnia, who we saw in Season 2.

The reason for this recast was purely based on scheduling conflicts as Bodnia’s representatives commented last year to RadioTimes: “Kim will not return as Vesemir as his current shooting diary didn’t fit in with Netflix’s shooting schedule of The Witcher Season 4.

As we revealed last year, Vesemir, Lambert and Coen would all return in The Witcher Season 4. They’ll be included in a storyline set in the current days, so it’s not a flashback to the days of Kaer Morhen.

Peter Mullan has an extensive career spanning decades and many awards including BAFTA, Cannes and more. His more recent roles include The Rings of Power, Ozark, Westworld and he even acted alongside Freya Allan in the horror movie Baghead.

And here we have Vesemir’s signature moustache, worn by Peter Mullan on August 20, 2024, when The Witcher Season 4 was filming. So this is his look:

The Witcher Season 4 is in post-production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available in Poland and will be released internationally in September 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
