Orlando weather: Drier weekend ahead as heat builds across Central Florida

Humid conditions and lingering clouds will remain over Central Florida on Friday night.

Here’s a look at what to expect for the weather across the region tonight, as well as a preview of the weather this weekend and going into next week.

What will the weather look like tonight?

What To Expect:

Central Florida could see some lingering showers on Friday night, with any remaining thunderstorms tapering off as the evening progresses. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the mid-70s.

Today is the first day of summer, and our sun angle is at the highest point in the sky of the year, at a nearly direct overhead position. Make sure that you wear sunscreen!

The summer solstice will happen today at 10:42 p.m.

What’s next:

Saturday will bring another round of hot weather, with inland highs ranging from 90 to 94 degrees.

Rain chances will decrease through the weekend as an easterly flow shifts daily storm activity toward Florida’s Gulf Coast.

While isolated showers can’t be ruled out, the overall chance for rain across Central Florida will hover around 20 percent.

What will the weather look like next week?

Dig deeper:

Looking ahead to next week, the region will continue to experience below-average rain chances for this time of year. Forecast models indicate mostly dry conditions through midweek.

Meanwhile, the tropical Atlantic remains unusually quiet, and forecasters say June could end without a named storm for the first time since 2019.

By late next week, Central Florida could feel the outer edge of a major heatwave impacting the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. High temperatures inland could reach the mid-90s, bringing sweltering conditions and potentially dangerous heat indices.
