Tennis enthusiasts who closely follow the sport are well aware of the bond American doubles specialist Taylor Townsend shares with her son, Adyn Aubrey. However, the demanding tour schedule often keeps her away from her little one, as she stays committed to the sport.
But with the North American hard-court swing approaching, the American had a heartwarming opportunity to reunite with her son, and she shared that moment online.
Taylor Townsend Reunites With Her Son After Two Months in a Heartfelt Moment
Townsend has been a commanding presence on the court, particularly in doubles, where she teams up with the Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniaková. The pair has captured two Major titles, the 2024 Wimbledon and the 2025 Australian Open. They also showed strong form at the French Open in June, reaching the quarterfinals, and followed it up with a semifinal finish at Wimbledon.
Next up for the American is the Citi Open, held in her nation’s capital. But before beginning her road to the US Open at the WTA 500 event, Townsend made a brief stop at her home in Miami, Florida, where she reunited with her son, Adyn Aubrey, after nearly two months away. The 29-year-old shared the touching moment in an Instagram clip.
As Townsend entered the room, her son lit up with joy and rushed into her arms for a tight hug. The two shared a heartwarming moment, with Townsend lifting him up as the embrace continued, accompanied by affectionate kisses and smiles.
“As I move into the next phase of the season, I wanted to pause and share this moment. ❤️After being gone for 7 weeks, this was everything I was envisioning it would be! This type of love is priceless✨Quick stop at home but we are back on road ✈️ DC,” she captioned her post.

When Taylor Townsend Explained Why She Doesn’t Travel With Her Son on Tour
While many wonder why she doesn’t travel with her son, Townsend offered a clear explanation. Speaking with the Tennis Channel during her French Open campaign earlier this year, the American explained that life on tour is tough, especially with a child, constantly changing time zones, and always eating out or ordering food.
“I mean for real, because this life is not easy. And a lot of people ask me, why don’t you travel with him, I’m like “This is hard for us!” It’s really hard for us, I mean we jump timezones going from hotel to hotel, new place to new place, week after week. Living out of the suitcase like no home cooked meal, because you eat out every night or Uber eat or whatever,” she said.
Considering the tough and busy life on the WTA tour, Townsend keeps her son at home, believing a stable routine and structure are crucial for his development.
“A lot of people ask me, ‘Why don’t you travel with him?’ This is a hard life for us!”

“This is a hard life for us, so it’s very difficult for them. So I make the sacrifice, personally I am like, rather you have your routine, be home and have some solid structure. That’s important for me for his development,” she added.
As noted, the American will now turn her attention to the upcoming hard-court swing, beginning with the Citi Open. Entering as a qualifier, she will face Camila Osorio on Saturday, Jul. 19.
