Rachel DeMita is out at the Big3, and Caitlin Clark may be the reason why.
After joining Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 basketball league as a courtside correspondent in June 2024, DeMita’s tenure has come to an abrupt end. According to Front Office Sports, the “final straw” was a tweet she posted last Saturday highlighting Caitlin Clark, while she was actively working a Big3 game.

That tweet, innocuous as it may seem, clearly didn’t sit well with league brass. What led to DeMita’s eventual ouster remains unclear, as the Big3 declined to comment to Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel. Still, Clark’s connection to the league is hard to ignore, especially given its high-profile and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to sign her last year.
DeMita, a well-known basketball influencer with a massive online following, was brought on to add a fun, digital-savvy flair to Big3 broadcasts. She told Fox News Digital that her role was “a little different than your traditional sideline reporter,” explaining her focus was also on producing social content and behind-the-scenes footage that could draw fans deeper into the league’s culture.
But that same culture didn’t exactly embrace DeMita spotlighting Clark on her personal social media during a Big3 game.
It’s worth noting just how far the Big3 went to land Caitlin Clark this spring. In what seemed like a Hail Mary effort to capitalize on her soaring popularity, league president Jeff Kwatinetz claimed they offered Clark a two-year, $10 million deal — complete with partial team ownership, half of all merch profits tied to her name or likeness, and a seven-figure advance for a documentary. They even promised Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman as her head coach.
Clark turned it all down, opting to focus on her rookie WNBA season and a possible Olympic run in Paris.
Then, months later, one of the league’s own correspondents tweets a Clark highlight mid-game, and that, apparently, was enough to end her run.
The Big3 may have missed out on Caitlin Clark. But now they’ve also lost Rachel DeMita.
