Svitolina vs. Bondar
Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina (No. 15 WTA), will open the tournament against Hungarian Anna Bondar (No. 97 WTA).
The players have faced each other twice this season, at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, with Svitolina winning both encounters.
The match will be played on the Grandstand court, starting at approximately 11:30 PM Kyiv time (fourth match after Van de Zandschulp vs. Rune).
This year, Svitolina has already won the tournament in Rouen, reached the semifinals in Madrid, and made it to two Grand Slam quarterfinals. Her best result at the US Open remains the 2019 semifinal.
Bondar, ranked near the bottom of the top 100, has won only 8 out of 20 hard-court matches this year. She enters the tournament on a three-match losing streak.
Yastremska vs. Pavlyuchenkova
Another Ukrainian representative, Dayana Yastremska (No. 31 WTA), will face the neutral player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (No. 45 WTA).
Their only previous meeting took place in Osaka in 2019, where the Russian won.
The match will be held on Court 6, scheduled to start at 6:00 PM Kyiv time as the first match of the day.
This season, Yastremska has reached the finals in Linz and Nottingham, but she has never advanced beyond the third round at the US Open. On hard courts this year, she has won 15 of her 24 matches.
Pavlyuchenkova, meanwhile, is not in her best form, having lost four straight matches and winning only five hard-court matches this season. However, in 2025, she still managed to reach the quarterfinals of both the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
