It’s the day of the men’s semi-finals in Rome and the two best players are both in action with home hero Jannik Sinner facing Tommy Paul after Carlos Alcaraz takes on another Italian in the form of Lorenzo Musetti.
21:50 CET – Normality is restored, Jannik Sinner has crushed Tommy Paul in the second set to level the match up at 1-6, 6-0. It’s moving quickly in Rome.
Bit of an odd match, really. Sinner didn’t really show up in the first set, but he’s certainly arrived now and he is one set away from the final.

21:19 CET – Well, well, well, who’d have expected this… Tommy Paul has taken the first set against Jannik Sinner and with some ease too, winning 6-1 in a little under 30 minutes!
It reminds me of someone, oh that’s right, Sinner’s form yesterday! Can the ginger Italian turn this around? If not, we are on for one of the biggest upsets of the week.
20:50 CET – Play is underway in the second men’s semi-final in Rome between Tommy Paul and the red-hot favourite, Jannik Sinner.

19:50 CET – We’re just under an hour away from the second semi-final, which will see Tommy Paul try to stop an extremely in-form Jannik Sinner after the Italian’s remarkable performance against Casper Ruud last time out.
Sinner has won three of his four meetings with the American, and the only one that they contested on clay.
17:55 CET – Here are the key stats from the first semi-final:

17:50 CET – Carlos Alcaraz is through to the Italian Open final! Lorenzo Musetti put up a real fight in the second set, leading for most of it and playing some great stuff, but the Spaniard fought back and edged the tiebreak to secure a 6-3, 7-6 victory in 124 minutes.
16:48 CET – An impressive Carlos Alcaraz broke Lorenzo Musetti twice on his way to taking the first set 6-3.
15:45 CET – Here we go! Musetti is serving first in the first men’s semi-final of the 2025 Italian Open, follow every point of it here.
14:05 CET – Both Alcaraz and Musetti have made it to the final four in convincing fashion.
The Spaniard did let his level drop in the Round of 16 against Karen Khachanov, losing the second set, but responded with a hugely impressive straight-sets win over Jack Draper.
Musetti meanwhile hasn’t dropped a single set yet which is a real feat given his last match was against Alexander Zverev, who he saw off in a tight battle that lasted for over two hours.
12:04 CET – We’re getting closer and closer to what will be the sixth meeting between Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti.
Alcaraz lost the first of them but has won each of the last four. However, Musetti did claim a set in their last meeting back in April and is playing the tennis of his life at the moment. Plus, he’ll have the crowd willing him on.
With both players boasting hugely entertaining brands of tennis too, this clash should be a good one.

08:50 CET – Hello and welcome to Flashscore’s coverage of the men’s semi-finals in Rome!
What a final four it is at the Italian Open, with it consisting of the world’s two best players in Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz as well as clay-court master Lorenzo Musetti, who along with Sinner will have a raucous home crowd buoying him on.
All three have produced some stunning tennis in the Italian capital, with Sinner’s complete demolition of Madrid champion Casper Ruud last night especially impressive.
Tommy Paul beating the world number one would be quite the underdog story, but he’s looked good in Rome – especially in his win over Alex De Minaur – so never say never.
The fun will begin with a repeat of the Monte Carlo final between Alcaraz and Musetti at 15:30, and we’ll be building up to it throughout the day.
