U.S. Open: Jon Rahm Goes Full NSFW As He Plummets at Oakmont

Former U.S. Open champion Jon Rahm tends to vocalize his frustration when things on the golf course do not go his way. In these situations, it’s not uncommon to see him berating himself, his shot, or his club.

He even took out frustration on a sign at Los Angeles Country Club for the 2023 U.S. Open.

He did not have much to gripe about after his opening round at the 2025 U.S. Open though. He was one of only 10 men to finish under par at 1-under. Oakmont Country Club has thus far lived up to its reputation.

But things were very different for Rahm on Friday.

The Spaniard signed for a 5-over 75, dropping him to 4-over for the tournament. His frustration finally got the best of him, as he missed a short par putt on his final hole.

“F***,” Rahm can be heard screaming as his putt lipped around the hole. He would tap in for a bogey five to end his day.

This was not the first time in recent days the U.S. Open champion has dropped obscenities.

During the final round of last week’s LIV Golf Virginia event, a poor shot resulted in a wild F-bomb that was clearly broadcast on television.

The incident occurred on the 615-yard, par-5 14th hole at the event’s venue, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Rahm hit his tee shot 285 yards, but it didn’t follow an ideal trajectory, landing in a fairway bunker and unleashing the player’s frustration.

Nevertheless, the Spaniard demonstrated his talent by exiting the bunker with his second shot, reaching the green with his third, and two-putting for par on the hole.

It was an up-and-down day for Rahm, who began Sunday with three consecutive bogeys on the first three holes. He then found a much better rhythm, carding an eagle, five birdies, and a bogey for the rest of the round.

His tournament score was 10-under, placing him tied for eighth on the leaderboard. This marks Rahm’s 21st top-10 finish in as many LIV Golf tournaments he has played, and his eighth this season.

Despite his outburst in Virginia, there’s no doubt that his playing level is enviable. His results at the LIV Golf Championship are backed up by a top-15 finish at the Masters Tournament and a top-10 finish at the PGA Championship.

One of his most recent outbursts occurred at the Augusta National Golf Club, where he dropped his driver and made gestures of kicking it.

Also very talked about were his angry remarks about the drones used in the television broadcast of last season’s Nashville event.

The cut line began the day at 4-over from Oakmont. However, the difficult track has already wreaked havoc and sent the cut line to +5. It is likely to continue moving that way, so Rahm is likely safe to play the weekend.

You may recall that Rahm knows what it’s like to win the US Open. He captured the title in 2021 on another very difficult course, Torrey Pines. But he is going to have to go very low on Saturday to have any chance this year.
