What the 2025 draft means for CeeDee Lamb

The Cowboys prioritize lines in NFL Draft, leaving receiver room thin.

TYLER, Texas — The NFL Draft has came and went.

The Cowboys held 10 of the 257 picks made over the three-event and used their most prized pick on Alabama guard Tyler Booker. The other 9 picks went to running backs, more lineman and other defensive depth pieces, but no wide receivers.

Looking at the Cowboys receiving room you’d see CeeDee Lamb and not much more. He had 73 more targets and 584 more yards than the next wide receiver on the team, Jalen Tolbert.

That kind of pace led to an elite season from Lamb, but at the cost of his health. A shoulder injury sidelined in the back end of the season. The Cowboys could really use a receiver to help split the load with Lamb, but after the draft, the free agency options don’t look promising,.

Amari Cooper, Nelson Agholor and Keenan Allen lead the options for best free agents available. If this were 2019 that’s an all-pro lineup. It, however, is 2025, and the best production from these former top receivers is behind them.

So Lamb better hope the training room is as staffed as the Cowboys lines are now, because he’s going to have a lot on his plate again in 2025.
