There is still a lack of clarity surrounding the right wing-back position at Wolves, after Nelson Semedo became a free agent.
Nelson Semedo left the club recently at the end of his deal, but Wolves still haven’t provided confirmation of his exit.
But Vitor Pereira has all but confirmed Semedo won’t return, admitting recently that Wolves were in the market for replacements.
Marc Pubill had been lined up by Wolves to replace Semedo.
But Atletico Madrid swooped in and hijacked the move, leaving Wolves to continue their search for a new right wing-back.
It was then claimed that Vladimir Coufal is being considered by Wolves – and Molineux News can now bring an update on that situation.
What the situation actually is with Wolves and Vladimir Coufal
There was real backlash over Wolves being linked to Coufal, which was understandable.
Coufal has just left West Ham United after five years at the club.
He turns 33 next month, and is no longer in his prime.
Wolves could do with a player of real quality to replace Semedo, and perhaps someone who has some room to grow.
Those who are dead against a move for Coufal will perhaps appreciate the information we have been given about the situation.
Molineux News’ transfer expert Graeme Bailey said: “Coufal’s been offered to Wolves more than they’ve been looking at him, to be fair.
“Wolves are not panicking; the Coufal links suggest that they may be, but I don’t think that’s the case.”
Coufal can’t be Wolves’ regular right wing-back
There is a chance that Wolves will sign Coufal this summer, but the club cannot be viewing him as the man to replace Semedo.
The information we’ve been given suggests that is not the case.
But Wolves could still bring him in and if that happens, it’s important he is not made a regular starter.
It would just be a total lack of ambition from Wolves, and would mean serious questions would need to be asked of the newly restructured recruitment division.
