Day 3 at the WTA 1000 event in Montreal will see the seeds make their debut, which should significantly increase the level of the matches from what we have seen in the past two days. Day 3 is sure to feature a lot of high quality tennis and almost certainly some upsets as there are plenty of unseeded players capable of beating their seeded counterparts. We have predictions for every match at WTA Montreal.
WTA Montreal Day 3 Predictions
Dayana Yastremska vs Camila Osorio
Head-to-head: Osorio 1-0 Yastremska
Osorio won when the pair faced last year at the Olympic Games, but this is a very different tournament and surface. While Osorio will still have her chances of producing an upset, on a hard court Yastremska should be able to avenge her Olympic defeat and advance here, even if it will likely be quite a close match for the most part.
Prediction: Yastremska in 3
Jaqueline Cristian vs Linda Noskova
Head-to-head: first meeting
Noskova has been playing at a really good level lately, with a final in Prague (just a few days ago), a close semifinal loss to Pegula at Bad Homburg, and even a fourth round appearance at Wimbledon, where she only lost to the eventual finalist of the event. She has been showing the potential to climb even higher up the rankings than she already has, and if she keeps the level she has been showing lately she should have a very clear edge in this matchup.
Prediction: Noskova in 2
Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Lin Zhu
Head-to-head: Alexandrova 1-0 Zhu
While this isn’t quite as big a mismatch as their rankings would suggest, Alexandrova is undoubtedly the much better, more solid, and more consistent player at the moment and should have a very clear advantage in this matchup. She won with relative ease when the pair faced in 2023 and the same should happen again here.
Prediction: Alexandrova in 2
Aoi Ito vs Jasmine Paolini
Head-to-head: first meeting
While she couldn’t even come close to replicating her 2024 runs to the final at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Paolini won Rome and has established herself as one of the top players in the world. Facing an opponent ranked outside the Top 100, the Italian shouldn’t have too many issues advancing to the next round here.
Prediction: Paolini in 2
